Travel across Japan as it was 150 years ago!
The Travels of Isabella Lucy Bird is a roll-and-write game that retraces the journeys of Isabella Lucy Bird, the real-life British explorer.
Players draft dice to choose their actions, tracing their travel routes across a map of old Japan while completing journal cards. Higher-value dice allow more powerful actions, but using the dice of each color in ascending order earns a large bonus at the end of the game. Players must therefore think carefully about which dice to use, and in what order.
As they travel, players deepen their knowledge of nature, culture, and faith, gathering materials to complete their journals and score points. In addition, when a town they have actually visited matches the town on a completed journal card, they earn extra points.
Planning your journey while making the right dice choices each round is the key to victory.
